MASTER YOUR FIRST PULL UP

Pull ups are a goal for many and a cornerstone in the world back exercises.

So, what are pull ups?

Pull ups are a bodyweight exercise that predominantly targets your back muscles, Lats primarily but also works your biceps as well as core muscles.

Types of pull up-

WIDE GRIP

Works mostly back, bit of biceps

 

NEUTRAL GRIP

Works back and biceps

 

CHIN UP

Works mostly biceps, bit of back

 

EXERCISES TO PRACTICE TO MASTER YOUR FIRST PULL UP

1. Inverted rows- Mimics the mid to top part of the pull up

2. Lat pull-down- Mimics a pull up, instead of pulling up, your pulling down.

3. Scapular Pulls- Is the bottom to mid part of the pull up

4. Deadhang- Helps forearm and grip strength

⭐️ BONUS EXERCISE IF YOUR GYM HAS IT- Assisted pull up- Is a pull up, usually with a pad to kneel on that takes some of your bodyweight, making the pull up lighter. As your strength progresses, you can reduce help from the machine until it isn't helping you at all.
